394 motor questions

I am looking to correspond with someone who has info on the 394 olds motors. I have a considerable database of old car material in my shop but am lacking in 371/394 info. I just bought a good motor and am looking for a good 4 or tri-power or dual four intake manifold.

Re: 394 motor questions

The 394 is a good strong engine but somewhat heavier than say a 455...No parts interchange between these 2 engines......Back in the day much speed equipment was made for the 394 such as blower manifolds, multi carb manifolds, race pistons, cams etc....Ebay is a good source for a multi carb intake as well as an Old Chiltons or Motor's Manual with specs on the 394. 1959 was the first year for this eng and 1964 was the last. Earlier intakes wont fit this engine...such as the factory J2 tri=power last available in 1958.

Re: 394 motor questions

Got a call from a Pontiac friend today about an aftermarket Pontiac Tripower intake that supposedly has correct # J2 carbs on it. E-mail me privately and I'll put you onto him.
