1988 Cutlass Last Edition

Does anyone know anything about the 1988 Cutlass "Last Edition"? I recently ran across one that had a special emblem. The Oldsmobile Rocket was on the left. On the right was printed Oldsmobile Supreme Classic. Below that, there was script that said Last Edition. I had never heard of it and was wondering how many were made and what was special about them.

What was so special about them is that they were the last RWD Cutlii built and that was an attempt to tart them up and squeeze every last nickel out of the consumers.

Re: 1988 Cutlass Last Edition

I've heard a couple stories about the Last Editions. The most believable is that the last month's production before it shut down in Dec 87 got the LE badging. I've also heard the last 1000 cars got it. Either way, it was among the last RWD Cutlass cars produced. Meaning, among the last RWD OLDSMOBILES produced. There were only about 13000 combined 89-90 Custom Cruisers built, and I don't really consider the corporate V8 powered 91-92 CC to be real Oldsmobiles.

Robert Slate had a gorgeous Last Edition and after he died June offered it to me, but I had nowhere to keep it.

BuickMan- is this car white with blue cloth interior and in Winston-Salem general area? If it is it could well be Slate's. It was an OCA best of class car. DK if June let all the awards go with it or not.

This was a North Carolina car, but was gray. It had been recently re-painted.
