1962 Starfire + Cable ?

I got a correct + cable for 61- 64 full size battery and confirmed at least the box # with parts list. However, my 62 manual does not show this cable diagram and while I know which end goes to battery and which to junction block, there is a somewhat long pigtail wire coming off the battery side that looks like a ground wire but obviously can't be. Where does this go to or was it meant to be cut from the line as a catch all Packard cable?

To my knowledge, the pigtail was never on an original 61-64 Olds cable.

It must be a "generic" item for later or other makes.

It sounds like a negative cable to me.

That's what I thought but there is a P on the battery side of the spring clip. The box is Delco Packard Gr 2.342 Part# 8907364 which is correct in my book. It also is about half way wrapped with that woven dark mesh type material towards the junction block side. Does this help?

If it has a spring clip it is not correct for a full size 64 Olds.

The spring clip (Positive) battery cable attaches to the horn relay, the cable in the cloth cover runs from the horn relay to the starter.
