I have a 1941 120 and an R-9 Transmission. Will the transmission hold up to the 282 engine if I install it in the 120?
Thanks,

OD equipped '41 120's came with the R9 so they will certainly "hold up". If all you have is the R9 Trans you'll also need all the other parts to make it work correctly such as OD relay, OD kickdown switch, OD wiring harness, OD lockout cable and knob, OD tailshaft, OD crossmember bracket, engine snubber, etc.

One other question might be what engine the OD trans came from. On some, I believe there may be an input shaft size difference between small and large engines. Parts manual does list various input shafts in the years OD was available but what the differences are, I don't know. There is a difference in the OD with large engines having a heavier planetary unit. If the trans will fit, then that would be an advantage.
You might ask your question at packardinfo.com. There seems to be a little more traffic on that forum with several who have added OD units posting regularly. Someone there may have an answer as to what will be bolt in.

Thanks,
I appreciate the information. I bought the transmission with the idea of installing it in my 6 cylinder Clipper, but as I like the 120 much better, I would rather put the transmission in it.
