my new 1940 110 business coupe

i got it and don't know what to do with it,
is there any power upgrades for the 6, or do I drop in the hated SBC,hehehehe
would a 50's ford flathead slip in and could i get it past the steering box
whats the book on this, everything is stock, very minor rust at the trunk gasket, everything else is solid, interior has heat rotted away but pans are solid, owner says he drove it into storage 4 years ago, just pulled it out on returning for NY, coupe is on AZ, i drained the gas, tomarrow will remove the plugs, new bat., a sqirt of oil and turn it over, see if she breathes.

Frank, thats a very pretty car. If i didnt like the 6 cylinder i would not hesitate to drop an SBC in it <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/image...s/shocked.gif" alt="" /> provided the rear axle is strong enuf to handle a V8. I mite would even put a Packard V8 in it if one came to me just rite.
What other kind of motysickles do u have??? I have a 48 Chief and 56 Cushman 8hp Eagle.

HI Have you ever driven any 6cyl. Packards? If not you might be suprised at how well they run. I have no figures to back it up, but since most owners favor the Supers, your 6cyl. might be a scarce model.
I doubt that a Packard V/8 would fit with out removing the inner fender splashers. You need 31 1/2" width, with PS. But like a lot of things, with other modifications you might make it work, then from there back, depending on choice of trans. the floor pans would probably need altered for room. Jack

My advice would be to see if you can get the original 6 to run. You might be surprised by how much power it has. By all accounts the 6 was Packard through and through that is to say reliable, tough, quiet and powerful .

i'm just kidding for now about a SBC, it was just something to get a rise out of the "i put disc on but dont update the motor" people., i mean if you do a little dont judge the people who do alot.
the bike in the fore ground is my '42 UL bobber, in the garage is a '74 shovel and a '65 FL police special i liberated from Iran, used to be the shah's escort bike. I'll try out the 6 before i decide weather to conver or just sell it,$10g if anyone is interested.

LOVE the bobber! Think about a GMC six with a Wayne crossflow head in the Packard. They are repoping them for @ $3,500.00, could make a real car out of it.

    PACKARD V/8
All 110 Packards were 6 cyl. 120 was the light eight.160 & 180 were the Supers big eight. You could buy a 40 or 41 contv. in all models. The difference in equipment was no side mounts were offered in the 6 cyl 110 models. The 41 6cyl. although still classed as a 110 had "SPECIAL" script on hood side panels but no 110 ID. Jack
