The site is WRONG! Well, sorta.

I just got the registration application for my Plymouth returned for incorrect payment. I enclosed the $23 the form said was correct, but I downloaded the form on August 30, and mailed it the next day. The fee went to $53.75 as of September 1, 2009. It is an Historical registration with YOM plates.

The catch is that I live in Suffolk County. We are considered to be in the NYC metro area and must pay the MTA "grab your ankles" surcharge. I am 90 miles from NYC, not in the commuting zone and there are almost no MTA services here.

Re: NYS increases Historical Reg fee

Look at the DMV website, ALL counties served by the MTA saw an increase on top of the 25% DMV increased fee. Counties that impose a use tax get you for an extra $20-50 depending on the county and weight of the vehicle.

For Vintage Plates:

Passenger Vehicles:
o If you already have a valid NYS registration for the vehicle in your name, the fee is $3.75 for the new document.
o If the vehicle is not currently registered in your name, the fee is $28.75.
NOTE: If you live in New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk, Orange, Putnam,
Dutchess, or Westchester county, the fee is $53.75 due to the addition of an annual $25 Metropolitan Commuter
Transportation District supplemental registration fee.
o If the vehicle is a 1973 or newer model year and does not already have a NYS title issued in your name, there is an
additional fee of $50 for the title.

For Historical Plates:
Passenger Vehicles:
· If you already have a valid NYS registration for the vehicle in your name, the fee is $18.75 ($15 plate fee
plus $3.75 transaction fee).
· If the vehicle is not currently registered in your name, the fee is $43.75.($28.75 registration fee plus $15 plate fee)
NOTE: If you live in New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk, Orange,
Putnam, Dutchess, or Westchester county, the fee is $68.75 due to the addition of an annual $25
Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District supplemental registration fee.
· If the vehicle is a 1973 or newer model and does not already have a NYS title issued in your name, there is
an additional title fee of $50.

Thank those you elected for the increased fees.

Our governor was not elected, and probably never will be.

I agree. But all the legislators who voted to approve it were. The fee increases were in the budget. The accidental governor asked for it, they gave it to him (and us).

I have the same idea with you. Great! Thanks for sharing.
Glad to hear you're using this: I plan to keep it much more aggressively up-to-date than has been the case in the past, but don't hesitate to let me know if you find errors or need clarifications.
