1917 Stutz rear axle question
Hi There
I took the rear brake drums off my 1917 Stutz Roadster yesterday to check the brake linings and came away with a question
One of the rear axle castellated nuts (that hold the brake drum on to the end of the square drive shaft) was tight and one was loose (both locked in place with a split pin.
Does anyone know how tight this nut should be please and therefore what is correct. I have them both fairly tight now but I don't want to damage anything
I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter - Thank you
Kind regards
