Re: "imported_" in your name

pete324rock,

You're right!!! all my posts prior to the big change over refer to me as a ******* Import and they don't even carry my signature.I don't remember ever having registered twice that would have given me a second ID or whatever. Very upsetting isn't it?

Yeah! I know I didn't register twice. I keep pretty good house-keeping when it comes to computer registrations and such. I was trying to find a post I know I was part of concerning a certain topic recently and it took near forever, and thats when I discovered my past had been erased. All my posts from day one were always easily referenced.

and imported_MrEarl also....

I can get over loosing my signature and searchability of all my old posts but I really hate the loss of all my Private Messages (not just a few either). I had correspondence on there with old friends who have either since passed away or have left the forum. Also lots of technical things were discussed. I'm still hoping that when Pete deleted them they went to a trash folder where they can be retrieved.

Very disappointing. The one & only bad outcome of this new software I have seen so far.

As for relying on a some computer in cyberspace to keep all past posts, emails etc never depend on it. Posts - emails downloaded as basic files and regular muiltple backup up copies on different hard disks / CD and even paper is what I do.

On this forum I make pdf's of threads I am interested in. The new software allows PM's to saved as files on your local hard disk
