Philpy, I don't know if this will help or not but here are two pages from my 1914-15 and 1916 Maxwell parts books. The part numbers are different but since Maxwell changed it's parts system between these two books the parts may actually be the same. I have an original muffler on my 1917 and it looks identical to these two. My car is in storage so I can't help with measurements but one thing I noticed is Maxwell must have felt back pressure was important as the muffler has the smallest outlet I've ever seen on a car. My guess would be about 1 inch inside diameter. Sorry I don't have more accurate sizes for you, Howard Dennis
