    Friction Drive

I am restoring 1914 Trumbull with friction drive. The leather on the drive wheel is quite weathered. Will neatsfoot oil make it too slippery? If I replace it, should I use leather, Kevlar or something else? I am open to any suggestions from all the friction drive folks.

I don't have any experience with friction drive, but in cone clutches Kevlar is grabby if it gets the slightest amount of dirt/oil on it.

There was an earlier question in this group about 8 weeks ago (I think) regarding the value of a CarterCar. Joe Goss runs the Cartercar registry, and knows LOTS about friction drive, material, etc., since he and other tour regularly in their vehicles. I can't find his response/email right now, but you might try reviewing the old messages. Good luck. - Fred
