I have been having a problem with my 48 LC. No power. I took a reading to day with a Vacuum guage and at an idle it read between 14" and 15 " of Vacuum at an idle. This was a steady reading. What should it be? Glenn Lorei b6vt

The normal is 17 to 22"/ hg at idle. You might check the compression to eliminate leaky rings and/or valves. Could have a vacuum leak...maybe the vacuum reservoir tank?
Peecher, I took the reading right off the connecterat the intake manifold. Sounds like I may have further problems. Glenn Lorei b6vt
Might even be a disconnected or partialy leaking vacuum hose under the dash. Those old hoses come loose real easy and the engine will run crappy.
