| Re: Was there a body parts catalog Harry: Since your Lincoln is a post war car you should have in your Lincoln Library three books:
1. The 36-48 Lincoln Chassis parts book
2. The 1946 Lincoln Body Parts List (covers 26H Lincolns)
3. The LCOC Authenticity Manual for 1940 -1948 Lincoln Continentals.
The LCOC manual is available from the Lincoln Continental Owners Club and is the "authoritative" manual for restoring Lincoln Continentals. It takes you thru the restoration of your car from the "correct" chassis parts to drawings of the "correct" interiors of the car. An extremely valuable manual. Club members can buy the manual for $65.00 or non members for $90.00.
The 36-48 Chassis Parts Book is your "Bible" for the year of your car. Lincoln printed individual year books up until 1942 and two post war books with the chassis parts book of Dec 1948 as the roundup and complete book for all cars produced from 1936 to the end of production in 1948.
The 1946 Lincoln Parts Book covers mainly the items produced for the car interior-from upolstry materials, colors used, etc to illustrations of some interior assemblies such as door and window parts. Has a drawing on the hydraulic system used in for your car windows and door parts.
There are other books that can be used in the restoration of your car, but I believe that these three are your basic referrel sources.
You will find that your membership in the Lincoln Zephyr Owners Club as the best resource ever in keeping up to date on V-12 Lincoln maintainance and ownership. At least you are heading in the right direction.
Just my opinion. I know other members will be chiming in to answer your questions. They are the best. |
