or a way to put something else in its place??

i think it is part no 99A 3446-A ?

mine has gone away and causes a big noise on a bumpy road

Not sure if you know, but the easiest way to install the new rubber cover over the radius rod ball is to coat the inside of the rubber cover and the outside of the steel radius ball with plenty of rubber grease. Push the hole in the cover hard against the steel ball and then while applying pressure, squirt compressed air through the little hole at the back of the rubber cover with a duster gun and it will pop right on.

The 99A part is a Mercury part starting in 1939. Fits Lincolns to 1948.
