A question about the 61 to 69 Lincolns

I am doing some work on a 68 and noticed the wipers park to the drivers side and the VIN tag is on the pass side of the dash and the hood safety release are on the pass side also so does anyone know if those were originally designed for the RHD market,I looked at some pics of the lincolns back to 61 when this body style first came out and all of the wipers parked to the drivers side but all the other Ford models the wipers parked to the pass side so that gets me thinking these might have been originally designed for countries with RHD like Austraila. I also looked at at some pics of the 66 galaxie for the Austraila market and the wipers parked on their pass side (our drivers side) so is this a design screw up or could I be right.

Re: A question about the 61 to 69 Lincolns

All Lincolns from '61 to '69 ( accept the Mark lll) were designed with the wipers parked to the left, driver's side. One feature with this arrangement was that the "blind" spot near the left side of the windshield was eliminated or reduced. This may be due to the overall design and location of the windshield and there was no mechanism to articulate the blade for better coverage. I don't believe they built any RHD Lincoln's of the era and you are right in that no other Ford product had wipers that parked to the left. There were a lot of unique "touches" with these Lincoln Continentals.
