Overdrive Kick Down Switch

Sometime back, someone gave a NAPA p/n for a kickdown switch. It was for a Ford but worked with the lincoln? Can't seem to find the post to get that number. Can anyone help? Thanks, Dee

Thanks Ray, I'll see what I can dig up. The local parts House know they have to hit the books when they see me come thru the door! Dee

Re: Overdrive Kick Down Switch

I installed one on my 48 while restoring it and posted the # along time ago, would have to look it up, you will have a minor problem as the indexing(flat ground side) is in a different location than the original. I had to move my throttle return spring to keep it from rubbing on the connecters and wires and burning out my fuse, also had to make a thick rubber washer for the top (between the floor board and switch to keep it from grounding out on the body when the brake was applied. my floor board would flex enough and the wires were close enough that it caused it to ground out. just a few things to look out for to save you some time and fuses.

Re: Overdrive Kick Down Switch

Believe it or not I took the switch apart and was able to clean up the contacts and its working fine. The new switch is as you say and has the "flat" clocked in the wrong position , however, a little work with a rat tail file on the mounting hole will allow you to rotate the switch so that there is no interference with the return spring. All the terminals can be located on the side away from the spring. Probably take two people to install tho as the switch will tend to rotate as you tighten the top nut.
