1941 Lincoln Continental Gold Plated Visor brackets on Ebay

There are two very nice gold plated visor brackets with the gold plated screws on
Ebay at this time. For the 1941 Lincoln Continental.

I think they are supposed to be Gold Maccoid finish...that bright gold is not correct for any restoration, and would glare like crazy..

Is that why they are being sold?? ...

Checking on many Auction for sale sites in many states, most quality 1940 1941 Lincoln restorations have the 24 C gold plating. I guess in ohio, the plastic type gold is found on some of the cars restored there today.

Actually on 40 and 41 Lincoln Continentals gold macoid "plastic" process with the pale gold finish is the most correct - it's hard to replicate and the gold plating sure looks nice so many have gone that route. Just because one guy does it another does it, everybody does it and then Edsel Ford's well known preference for the understated look is lost...

I do believe 42 Continentals used actual gold plating, but not 40 or 41.

The restoration manual of the LZOC says "it will accept gold plating for judging" and the restoration manual of the LCOC also states it "will accept gold/brass plating for judging." Just an "elegant touch" for an "elegant" and deserving automobile.

well spoken John, the real gold certainly is elegant - I am not sure I want to pay for it these days with the current price of gold!
