Phil, One more thing if you look close in some of those pictures. The car has under the seat heaters with two little heater cores and two small fan motors. I had to disconnect for now do to leaks in heater cores, but was this added on later or was this an option as well.

Re: 1940 lincoln

I'm not sure exactly when underseat heaters became a factory option. There should also be a defroster heater under the dash.

Mssr Bwatoe should be more knowledgeable about 1940 Lincolns.

Re: 1940 lincoln

My Lincoln chassis book printed in June 1941 has listings in the accessories section showing part numbers installed in 1940 Zephyrs, but none for 06H-56-57 Continentals. I am willing to bet that since Lincoln came out with a hot water heater system for 16H 56-57's, dealers were installing the sysytems for the 40 series Continentals. There should be a rubber hose attached to a fitting on drivers side water pump that goes thru to the drivers side under seat water heater unit. A possible clue to dealer/owner installation would be a somewhat ragged holes cut in the flooring to allow heater motor to extend below floor when installed.

What is interesting to note is the hot air heater system blower assembly on the engine passenger side. Looks like your car has both heating sustems. Could be for an owner living in cold weather area? Would like to see more pictures of your engine compartment. Also pictures of the heater elements of the heater system on inside firewall. E-mail me if you need any specific info on the 40 Continentals Can send pictures of my car if needed.

Re: 1940 lincoln

Hello all, here are some pictures hope this helps. The system appears to have been installed at a later date but hard to tell for sure. These are the only systems it has air intake and under seat there are no heater cores in dash.
