Some newbie questions regarding '41 President...

As my "handle" suggests, I'm mostly a MoPar guy up to this point in my life, but I like "all" orphans, and...

I spotted a '41 Stude President 4dr yesterday, and am going to see if I can talk the owner into selling...

This Studebaker appears to have last been running & inspected in 1958-'59 ( PA). It has been mothballed ever since.

The body appears solid and straight, the only cancer I could find during a five-minute walk-around was at the bottom of the trunk lid and around the lower trunk opening.

Interior is all original, and intact ( except for a falling headliner), at least intact enough for patterns.

The engine is missing its cylinder head, but other wise appears complete.

So, all that said, I'm wondering what parts avail is like for the '41-'42 President, especially in terms of: engine, brakes, suspension, and other "getting it back on the road stuff"... and also what sort of driveability could I expect from this car as a driver/ tour car...

Would appreciate any advice or recommendations...

Ultimately, I would like to see this car get rescued and restored, as opposed to crushed or rodded...

    Thanks for any advice/suggestions...

where everyone is eager to help but, I must warn you, on that forum we are most familiar with post-war cars.

Frank , I drove a '41 President and I must say it's a real drivers car. I mean it's powerful, handles great [ it had wide whitewall radial tires ] Not great but very good brakes for today's driving conditions and that great Raymond Loewy streamlined look. All in all , a super car. Just hope it has overdrive! ...................Steve
