Re: Auction Results

Hi- at first glance the selling price, in the 60K range, seems low for a '33 Cadillac V-12 open car. But it's not an original body, nor even a metal one. It's a Gibbons fiberglas reproduction. Thus, someone probably started with a V-12 sedan, used running gear and front sheet metal, and made a replicar. Nice looking, but given the replicar aspect, that looks like all the money for the car. Best- dc

Re: Auction Results

Thanks David. I wondered if there was something I didn't catch. I saw a few minutes of the Barett Jackson auction today on Speed Channel, but not enough to comment. Just as I turned it on, the family comandered the TV. I might mention that the auction is only a small part of these events. I hope everyone gets to go to at least one in their lifetime.

Re: Auction Results

Trying to divine the market by looking at auction results without having personally inspected the car and being an expert in the market for that type of car is not doable.

Even SCM which does an o.k. job of describing the cars fails to mention important details. For example, this month's issue has a 31 CG Phaeton that sold for 100k or close without ever mentioning the originality of the body on it. An original bodied CG will still bring north of 300k even in this market.
