For Sale probably the finest original late 1940s to mid 1950s Reo two ton truck in existence. Sold new in Manheim,Pa. in 1951. Delivered coal locally only in the winter time from 1951 to 1981,then the dump bed was removed and put on a new truck, and this truck was put to the back of the company garage. Not removed from that 1981 spot until several months ago! Stored in that garage from new. Model E21 with the "C" length frame, giving the truck a 170 inch wheelbase. Length of the frame from the back of the cab to the end of the truck is approx. 10 3/4 feet. Overall length of the truck is 20 feet 6 inches. Truck is 7 feet 7 inches high. Truck has a Continental produced Reo purpose built "Gold Comet" engine of 292 C.I. Engine is an overhead valve 6 cylinder. Has 4 speed trans. and a 2 speed rear axle, and the PTO lever and shifters are still on the truck, when it had a dump body on it. Thus should be able to drive at highway speed, and get reasonalbe gas mileage. Original paint, interior, seat, cardboard cab trim, etc. VERY minor surface rust in just a few very small isolated areas. No under body rust. Good glass. Engine ran last month, but was run on an aux. gas tank,as tank needs to be cleaned. Motor ran fine.Needs wheel and brake master cylinder kits, tune up kit, etc. which I just bought and go with the truck. Only brakes working currently are the emergency brake. Brand new OEM large 6 volt battery that cost $180.00. Obviously the truck needs a general going through,as its been sitting inside for 30 years. Needs fluids drained and changes, some various gaskets replaced, etc. All tires look usable and hold air just fine. This would be a superb vehicle to show in AACA preservation class. You could also put a stake bed,car or race car hauler bed,gas station tanker tank, wrecker set up,etc on it to make it your personal hauler! Remember all these era large trucks were run forever then scrapped,as they were so dependable. You'll probably never see a specimen like this again. Go to Ebay and type in "1950 Reo Truck" and look at the many ads and spec. sheets available. All running gear parts are available and cheap. Has clear title. Price is $13,800. Sorry no trades. Comes out in the truck section of Hemmings around March first. Don't miss this amazing opportunity! Lots of additional photos available to your email, just ask. Truck stored in Ocala,Fla. Can assist in arranging shipping. George Albright,Ocala,Fla. email: gnalbright@gmail.com cell 352 843 1624 10 AM to 4 PM Eastern Std. Time best.
