    U bolts

Does anyone have a source for new/good used u bolts? I am looking for the pre 15 style that have square corners and a rectangular cross section. I am not interested in cast iron bolts; I want forged bolts.

    Re: U bolts

I had to have some made locally. If it is just the threaded part that is bad and the rest is good you could have new threaded legs welded on. I did that in a couple of cases. ~ hvs

I had wondered about the possibility of welding but am a little worried about the safety issue since this is for the front axle and the spring is above the axle.

    Re: U bolts

Locate a local truck spring service shop, our local shop has a furnace that they use to custom bend U bolts and other attachment parts. They have racks of various length threaded end bar stock they heat and form for what ever leaf width they are dealing with. The square shape might be hand forged if required for appearance.
