Re: chrysler 1929 75

for pictures, I suggest doing a picture search on the Internet. I have a 65 series, so I can't help you directly, but which dimensions do you need? You have a well built car. What body does it have?

Re: chrysler 1929 75

The only dimension I have is the wheelbase, 121" You might be able to find a coup body so you could use that shetmetal. I know the 1929 65 series shared the body with Plymouth and DeSoto; I do not know if the 75 series body was also used by other divisions. You might contact the Chrysler museum: Walter P. Chrysler Museum The AACA museum and library, accessable through this web site may also be of help. If you belong to the AACA, they may be able to tell you who in the club owns a car like yours. Good luck - where are you from? I am in EL Paso, TX

Re: chrysler 1929 75

Thanks Dave for all the information.
I´m from Buenos Aires, Argentina. It´s still easy find old cars ( 1915 - 1940)there?
Here we have some old cars (most of them Ford A) but not with the quality that you can find in your country.
If you need something that I can help you please let me know.
Thanks again
bye
Juan

Dave, you mention the model 65 series shared the body with Plymouth and Desoto. I was unaware of this. Are you saying that the 65 bodies are identical to specific models with Plymouth and Desoto? Which models?

Thanks
Dan

Re: chrysler 1929 75

I've had a few roadsters years ago. I think what he meant was that some of the major parts are the same like rear body section & lid, doors and side aprons. The cowls and hoods do differ. Then it gets to things like fenders, and some are the same, but there was a very slight difference in very early fenders built in 28 and early 29. It's tough to tell them apart without both cars side by side.

I did spot a 29/30? 65? coupe MANY years ago that was a 5 window, and I have never seen another. Ply & DeS coupes were 3 windows. I took a polariod pic of it....it's somewhere here

Edit: The models I was mentioning are: 29 DeSoto 6 model K and 30 CK. 28 Ply Q. 29 Ply U. 30 Ply 30U

It sure looks like that 75 roadster shares the same doors, but it sure looks like there was a few inches added to the rear quarter panels between the door and rear fender. It looks longer there, plus the upper rear deck that has the top rests, looks longer as well.

Re: chrysler 1929 75

I have been told that the 65 and 75 share the same rear axel, which would mean that they have the same track, but the 75 does have a wider tire. I now there isn't much room in a 65 roadster, but I am 6'2, 240 pounds, and the little wife has made better gains than my stock market investments too.
But it seems that all cars of that era were tight on space in the front seat. I have a hard time getting my size 11's between the seat and door piller of Lincolns of that era too. The center of my vision seems to be the upper windshield bar on the roadster.

Juan, I know there have been some 75 touring cars come out of Argentina, but that wouldn't help you with the back of a roadster body. Do you have a picture of how bad your rear section is?

Re: chrysler 1929 75

Juan, go to the Chrysler buy - sell thread. There is a 1929 75 coupe for sale. Perhaps he will be kind enough to give you the measurements you need.
