1961 3 speed trans

Hi All and thanks in advance for any info you can provide. I have a 61 88 with the hydro 3 speed trans. It seems to work fine but spitts trans fluid out the dip stick tube. Is this a normal issue with this trans as I have been told and/or is a fix available? The car has the stock 394 and trans.

Check the fluid level with the engine hot and running. If you checked it cold it could be overfilled, the level comes up quite a bit once the trans warms up.

There is supposed to be a rubber plug or baffle near the top of the dipstick to prevent spitting.

Also you could check the vent is not plugged up. There may be a vent on top of the trans, at least some transmissions have them, not sure about your Jetaway.
