1926 buick valve lifter springs
Thanks to Leif I am more clear on the problem I posted a few days ago and I can describe my situation more clearly.
Reference books. shop manuals and parts books all show that early Buicks had springs in the valve lifters down near the camshaft as well as valve springs up in the head. My 1926 Buick model 26-20 std 6 does not have any valve lifter springs. Should I try to find and install lifter springs or leave the motor as is? Has anyone seen other old Buicks run without lifter springs? What is the function of these springs? Are they necessary? Where would one get some? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
