Just for confirmation, are you looking to upgrade? I believe the '56 Special used a 2-bbl carb.

try the carb shop ph# 573- 392-7378 (8-4 Mon-Wed central time).
I have a complete '56 Super that I am parting out, would have the complete carb and manifold, and its close to the Alton, Ill. area, in Missouri. Paul
Paul, I remember you, I have been to your place when you were working on that Buick Pick-up. I have a manifold just need a carb, but if the price is right? I could get both! E-mail me with asking price. THANKS, Ed
In case you find a 54-55 Carter and in case you don't already know,I think there is a height difference between the 54-55 and the 56 carbs. the 56 is lower profile I believe to give clearance for the lowered hood elev.
Thanks MR Earl, wouldn't want to have to cut a hole in the hood! Where carters and rochesters available in '56, which one would be a better choice?
Thriller, yes it is a 2 bbl nowand needs rebuilt but I was considering going to a 4 bbl cause gas is only $2.89 a gallon
and I want to make sure the poor oil executives don't go broke this summer!!!!!
