FS. 1937 Roadmaster formal sedan project craigslist

Barney Eaton sent me a listing just now from the Austin, Texas Craig's list. http://austin.craigslist.org for what appears to be a 1937 Roadmaster model 81-F. This is the Formal Sedan with division window, which would be one of 452 made if that's what it is. $600, with no engine, no interior, no transmission, some glass missing, but a straight looking body. The side-mounted front fenders are worth the entire asking price. Seller says it is not suitable for a restoration. Located in Alvin, Texas which is southwest of Houston. I have no connection to the seller, just trying to help find something rare a home.

Awesome worthwhile project car from the height of the Art Deco 1930's Buicks.

Century's in 1937 were on a l-o-n-g 126 inch wheelbase. Roadmasters like this 81 series, were on a 131 inch wheelbase. By comparison, my last Roadmaster, a 1949 Sedanette - was 122.

Pete nailed it at 452 units, probably 10-25 left??? in any condition. I don't have (any) a lot of seed money left and the car is in Texas and the owner needs it moved fast, all bad points against me pursuing it.

For some reason, it just seems like 10 to 15 years ago this Buick would be gone by now, safely purchased by some Buickphile amongst the Tejas chapters but in this day and age so few people are doing full-on restorations of significant Buicks.

If someone gets this car in Texas, please let the forum know and it would make a great Me and My Buick post.

Wow, someone needs to put Bob's '37 project together with this rare 81-F, and they will have virtually everything they need for a very, very rare car to be restored! Talk about a bird-in-the-hand...!!!!!!!!! Before the days of the internet, you would probably search for 5 or 10 years for the opportunity that Bob has just provided!
