Coupla nize riginal 55's on eBay

Since seldom do any 54's like these come up on ebay I just wanted to throw these out to be gandered at. These are the type cars that if I was a 55 guy, would make it difficult for me to not just keep adding to a collection. Especially the 2 door post model...sweet....

Model 46R Two-Door Riviera...2 door hardtop convertible

Model 48 Two-Door Tourback Sedan ...2 door "post"

You awake Mike?....

It seems like the 1st one is owned by someone from England, using the word petrol and boot, but the car is in PA, so it says.

Re: Coupla nize riginal 55's on eBay

hello,
i live in australia and i have been hoping to purchase a 50's Buick so i thought the red '55 on ebay was a beauty. i put in a bid which came out as winning bid, but unfortunately it seems a bit suspicious to me. i requested contact details which the seller did not make available. the only method of sale they requested was a bank deposit, which their account was in some asian bank, i think it was indonesia. they have no feedback on ebay, and although this isn't really something to go off, they couldn't spell their english properly (as is seen in the ad the model is listed as a "spesial"). what do you guys think? i am very cautious because 5 grand is a large amount of money for me.

Re: Coupla nize riginal 55's on eBay

Noah, I agree the car is nice. I've only ever seen one other original like this with the dog dish hub caps and original pinstripes on the wheels.

I remember your question to the seller re having your friend here in the states make the $ transaction which at the time I was a little leary of in itself. But seems you have done your part and now the seller will not give you sufficient info to close the deal. I wondered if possibly the seller (Guardguy) was in the military and trying to sell his car that was in Pennsylvania I believe it was. I asked the seller some questions and invited him to post on the BCA Forum and tell us more about the car. Never got a reply. I am always a little suspicicious of why sellers keep the bidders ID secret also. There should be a lot of good communication before money changes hands and you entrust him to ship the car out to you. There may be someone on the forum near the car that may could help in looking at the car and verifying that it is as represented. I would never deposit any money in any bank foreign or not unless I had a trusting third party verify a few things. BTW, welcome aboard and keep us posted.

Re: Coupla nize riginal 55's on eBay

I looked at this car for sale on ebay and it had all the signs of being a fraud.
It's a three day auction with no reserve and a low starting bid. The bidders are kept private so others can't warn the high bidder that he's being taken.
The English or spelling is usually not good. I think this ad was copied from an old ebay listing. Notice it says that the car will be 50 years old "next" year. The seller appears to be overseas but the location is in the US. The zero feedback doesn't mean it's a fraud. This happens with sellers with years of feedback. Their ebay account gets hijacked by these con artists. I must get at least four emails a week that are supposed to be from ebay and paypal telling me that my account information has to be updated or my account will be terminated. When you go to the given address, you fill out your ID and password on what looks like ebay or paypal. Now that they have your password they change the account to their new email address making the original owner out of the loop. I get letters from paypal and I never had paypal!! Ebay will never ask you for this info in an email. If your not sure if the auction is a fraud, ask for a specific picture of part of the item. In this case I would have asked for the inside of the trunk. Don't accept that "my camera broke" as an answer. I collect other big money items that are on ebay and this happens all the time. NEVER wire money to anyone unless you are absolutely sure everything checks out. Western Union can be picked up anywhere and it can't be traced. Remember that "if it's too good to be true, it usually is".

Re: Coupla nize riginal 55's on eBay

Hey guys,
thanks for youre help, i am glad i was cautious about this. they keep sending me email's saying to send money to indonesia. it's too risky, i doubt that if i send money to indonesia i am going to receive a buick. the ad description is very suspicious. as you said, things like "50 years old next year" and the low price, i am sure the car shown could attract more than 5 grand. just shows that you have to be aware. anyway, i look forward to being a fellow buick owner eventually. i have just joined my local club, which is Queensland Buick Club, Australia. a '57 is my favourite, so hopefully i get an opurtunity to be an owner.
