Think of it another way. Buy it outright for $800 or so. 99,000 miles.
Or
Go look at used car lots for what you get for 99,000 miles. That's probably a 6-7 year old car, probably asking $5000 to $10,000.
I had a 77 Oldsmobile 98 Regency I bought off an older lady going into a nursing home here in my town. It had just over 100,000 miles on it, some rust and was a sage green. $500. That car was a one owner well cared for car as most of these Electra/98's/Coupe deVilles were.
I have a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville which I enjoy the heated seats and all but I won't do it again. The monthly payment just takes money away from my restoration hobby.
I wish I could get this car, put 3-4 years of driving on it (yes - it won't get good gas mileage BUT you only pay $800 initially for it and they are build like a tank for a reason) Hope someone gets it. I loved my 98.
I have a 21 mile commute. You get in, has those plush seats - you got a radio, heat, power everything. It's a pleasant dash with everything in reach. It went down the road pillow smooth and you arrive at work relaxed. A few rice burners give you the evil eye 'cuz the old boat doesn't burn rubber from a stop.
The 403 Olds engine is a good one, and the Electra / 98 etc had the bullet proof TH 400 backing it up. Not the most efficient set up but it won't let you down. I think I got 14-16 mpg.
I remember we took the Sage Green Olds 98 to Christmas at the Grandparents one year. HUGE trunk, lots of room in the back for Abby and all her toys and DVD. The passenger in front had a magazine 'pocket' and it didn't seem like we used any more gas then the SUV's out there. We probably did not.
