Somethings got to go. My recent purchase of one and now possibly another 54 Roadmaster forces the sell of this sweet 1956 Century 66R ( 2 dr hard top convertible).
I purchased this car for my son as his first car about six months ago. Since then he has decided he likes climbing rocks and negotiating hills and mud puddles more than driving cool old Buicks, thus he is taking over our old 90 Trooper. and hey I can appreciate that...after all he could have become a ricer...
This car is a one family car that I purchased from the grandson of the original owner. It is a Georgia car that lived its life on a south Georgia farm until the mid 80's when the grandfather's son inherited the car and proceeded to "fix it up". This included an engine and tranmission rebuild and an Earl Shrieb (Macco) paint job. This car deserves a new quality paint job and could use some minor mechanical repairs. I would rate this car a high 3.Current mileage shown is 75,960. I believe this is the actual mileage but can not prove it. It would make an outstanding daily driver. It has power steering and power brakes, rear seat speaker/switch. The radio, wipers and guages work well (gas guage not very accurate). Speedometer does not work, odometer does . The interior is original and is immaculate. It is mechaniclly very sound. New radial tires. All glass is good except drivers side vent which is cracked.Major needs of this car are: speedometer repair, repair exhaust manifold leak, repair choke ,re-furbish trunk interior. This car is in good driveable conditon as is but will require some mechanical and cosmetic attention to become a show car or an excellant daily driver. The purchase price for this vehicle is approximately $7,500. If you are sincerely interested in purchasing this car please email me privately at victfarm@bellsouth.net and I will answer any questions and discuss the final price. I am attaching several pictures depicting it's current condition.
I can deliver this car to Plano at no additional charge. Thanks for looking.
I realize the quality of the pictures isn't great. I can try taking more of specific things if needed. As I said this is an Earl Schrieb paint job.Although not real good I do feel that it helped preserve the car since it was done. I would rate the paint as a 6-7 on a scale of 10.This car deserves a repaint. There are some chips in the paint and one small dent on the front hood. There are some bubbles on the rear of the rocker panels and the bottom of the front of the hood. Not rusted through!! (very typical of this year Buick). I tried to take pictures of these bad points but they do not show up. I can try again if necessary. The front passenger side floor panels were rusted and have been pathched. There are some windshield wiper scratehes in the front windshield. The headliner is very nice and clean but does have two small tears less than a half inch long, barely noticeable. The carpet is not the original but is decent.
This is a great daily driver that can be enjoyed. It's not so "prettied up" that you're afraid to drive it around, yet looks really great and gets thumbs up all the time. Somebody needs me to bring this to Plano for them. Make me an offer....
Just my .02 worth: I've seen the car, and even driven it. It is a nice car, and the price he's asking is very, very fair for what you'd be getting. "Easy Restoration" is a cliche, but here it applies.
(You said the check's in the mail, right Lamar? )
really, it is a nice car. Drives well, fires right up, and that was when he first brought it home, before he started detailing it.

Thanks for the good words Brad, (yea the check's in the mail). Looks like no bodys gonna bite.
I really don't want to part with this car, I've been enjoying it too much driving it around. But there's this 54 Roadmaster in Kansas see, and if I could sell this I could buy that. Times runnin out though.
One last ditch effort....
$6,000.00 and free shipping to between here and Kansas and Plano. (After Plano the price is back to $8,000.00 though.)
"fiftysix" sold today to a tri five Chevy collector who plans to do a off frame restoration on her. Which in my mind is almost a waste. All this car needs is an exterior paint and detailing. Oh well, it's his $$$$ Would have loved to seen her go to one of you all but I also find it interesting that both this and the 54 Century (Marilyn)I sold a month ago went to high dollar collectors who've never owned a Buick. I guess it just took them a while to figure out Buick is the better buy!!
