    1948 Roadmaster 4-door Model #71 - plus parts

After 20 years of being the care taker for this great SURVIVOR car, I have decided to part ways with it. I bought it with 51,000 miles and now has 56,000 miles. It comes with another car disassembled so there are a ton of spare parts for the "just in case" you need them moment.

This car is the top of the line Buick for 1948. Nicoli Bulgari has one just like it - but his is pristine of course. I have all the manuals for 1948 that go with the car - owners, shop, Dynaflow tranny manual, and a sales flyer that discusses the special upgraded interior.

The car has dynaflow transmission, radio, backup lights, and "Van Aukin" bumper guards. There are some belt buckle scratches on the fenders, a rocker panel could be replaced, and bumpers could use some chrome. It is not perfect, but not a junker either. It drives very nicely - runs at 65 MPH like a champ. THIS IS A SURVIVOR CAR, which means it has never been restored - just maintained as needed.

I'm selling because I want to downsize my collection and clean out my garage some. The spare parts include 4 doors, hood, trunk lid, 3 fenders (missing front right), gas tank, rear bumper, rear window, air cleaner, radio, hub caps, fuel pump, generator, and a bunch of other stuff I can tell you about if you contact me for the details.

I have new trunk " Dyna-Flow" red plastics to install, new weatherstrip kit, new fabric for front seat, and some other new items I bought through the years for it. All goes with the car.

Asking $12,500 for the car, manuals, and all the parts. Send me a private message here if you are interested, and I'll send you additional photos.

NEW - just added pictures of interior.

NEW - my cell number is 724-622-7614 if you would like to discuss the car in person.

NEW Nov 14, 2011 - added a list of the spare parts that come with car - see photos

I plan on taking the 48 to the Great Lakes Regional BCA meet this coming weekend if anybody is interested in seeing it in person.

Otherwise I live just 6 miles from Pittsburgh airport, you can fly in and I'll pick you up at the airport.

got the title of my safe and it verifies the mileage is accurate original. I actually bought it with 49,856 miles. I have the car loaded up on the trailer and ready to drive to Cleveland tomorrow for the Great Lakes Regional meet.

    Re: 1948 Roadmaster 4-door Model #71 - plus parts

Had a very nice time at the Great Lakes Regional. Had lots of nice comments on the 48, and plenty of thumbs up as I rode on the turnpike between Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

One thing I forgot to mention about the car - the 48 still has the original PA inspection on the windshield.

    Re: 1948 Roadmaster 4-door Model #71 - plus parts

Hey Tom.............Since you're a Buick guy in the Pittsburgh area I was wondering if you happened to know the late Sidney Aberman. I was told he was a founder of the BCCA (Buick Car Club of America) a few years ago. I got a call in February 2008 (through my ad in Hemmings for old automotive publications) from a guy who was hired to clean out his garage. Sidney's son had a huge dumpster placed in front of the garage and he had told one of his employees to throw everything in it. The guy called me and said there were dozens of boxes of old Buick shop manuals, dealer brochures, owner's manuals, and a LOT more including a box of old PA license plates with almost every year from 1906 through 1958. I told him I would be there the next morning (a 6 hour drive from Louisville) and I ended up filling up the 8 foot bed of my pickup with stuff. Also in the garage were two '41 Buicks-a 4 door convertible and a limo. I ended up with a whole truckload of old Buick items including 15 brand new '54 Buick shop manuals still in their individual boxes, over a dozen huge (each page approx. 15" x 18") '41 Buick prestige brochures and four for the '42 Buick the same size which were all in perfect shape, and dozens more boxes of old Buick items. Anyway, I was wondering if you knew him and also if you knew what happened to his two '41 Buicks. Thanks in advance..............Dave in KY

    Hi Laurence,

Yes I still have the 48 Roadmaster for sale. Have had a lot of tire kickers, but no serious offers yet. Some people have asked if I would sell them just the car, and the answer is yes, I can sell just the car for $10,000. Give me a call on my cell at 724-622-7614

I have some inquires about selling the car separate from the parts. So you can choose from:
    just the car for $10,000
the car with manuals and small easy to transport parts for $11,000
The car, all manuals and all parts big and small for $12,500

    That's a nice car.

Here's one out of left field: I would need to trade you (obviously plus cash) a quirky car to do this: a 1985 Century Convert, Hess and Eisenhardt conversion. It's in reasonably good low-mileage shape. Need to get rid of it to take on anything else. Any interest?

    Best regards,
    Steve.

    Hello Steve,
Thanks for the response. Sorry but I can't take a trade - my plan is to downsize my collection. I have too many cars to take care of as it is.

And I know how much this is killing you to let this long time part of your family leave the nest.

It is a great clean original car, and will make someone a great road car - hopefully it will be enjoyed as it is.

Hi Keith - thanks for the vote of confidence on my car. Yes it does hurt a little selling the 48, but I just need to downsize collection and put the car money into my house. Please pass the word on to you fellow members at the Pittsburgh Lambda car club. Did you ever get to drive my 48?

Hi Tom, I made this comment a while back about your car

"It is a great clean original car, and will make someone a great road car - hopefully it will be enjoyed as it is"

We have since been informed that we can't comment on for sale adds = so just pretend I said it and everything will be fine!!!
