Water Leak in trunk?

Hello, I noticed a small amount of moisture building up in the trunk, although not puddling, but causing the spare to begin to rust and the jute insulation to feel damp. Has anybody had this issue before? I've been told that my automatic antenna is suppose to have a drain and have not been able to find such drain, although I think the antenna was replaced a while back. I water-tested it myself at the dealership I used to work at and didn't see any leaks after about 10-15 minutes, which would make me believe that water would come in when the antenna goes down. Any ideas? Thanks

Coupe or convertible?
I'm guessing coupe........
* antenna,
* back glass not sealed
* Look for collision damage around wheel wells and seams not sealed.

Re: Water Leak in trunk?

Just a thought. Is the joint on the weather seal OK? I've had the joint separate and allow water to get in.

On another note... you need to shrink the photos in your posts so that the post isn't too wide. Scrolling side to side to read them is no fun.

Re: Water Leak in trunk?

How's the signiture now? I never had to scroll left and right, probably because I use a very large (number) resolution on my computer which makes everything small.

Anyhow...I think there may be a split in my trunk weatherstrip. Does anybody know if these are readilly availible new? Also, I still havn't heard whether or not other Reattas have a "antenna drain." And yes, a coupe. No collision damage, the only thing this car has hit was a pole in a parking garage which was the front end and probably when parts were more availible! Thanks

Hello Ryan,

Sigacher eeza much better... Tanks! Ussen olderguys need small number rez for BIG fonts. Eezier to see.

Don't know if the weather strip can be had new.

I'd go and check one of my cars but it's raining rats and bats outside. In the attached figure it shows a drain tube on the antenna but exactly where it ends up in the trunk I can't say for sure

Re: Water Leak in trunk?

Ah-ha! So there IS a drain tube. Mine didn't have this when I got it. So I used a PCV tube with a 90 degree rubber end on it and drilled a smaller hole and siliconed it inside and out of the trunk. I still think it's getting damp back there though. But thanks! That pic answered my question

Re: Water Leak in trunk?

My coupe had water seepage...I have spoken with Barney about it several times and attempted several repairs...still leaked . I finially sealed all the "under and inner side and floor portion panels on both sides, and since my may complaint was mainly on the left side, I sealed all the outside (and inside) seams with sray undercoating, and I filled the large cavities and around the fuel delivery door opening and equipment both with black rtv type sealer as well as the red and yellow foam can stuff to totally fill those openings (possible trouble spots.....I was bound and determined to fix it and I did . all the filler materials took touch up paint in a spray can and matched very well.....after it was painted it look fatory

Re: Water Leak in trunk?

Yeah, I also used some black silicone in some seams and reached way up passed the wheelwell as far as my hands could go. I'll have to check it again and see if it's still damp. Thanks
