Sudden Loss of power & mpg

Last week while driving to work I experienced a loss of power like a miss & my gas mileage went from 27 mpg to 11 mpg. I changed plugs and wires. nothing. Changed fuel filter. No change. Changed fuel pump. Still the same. Removed catalytic converter and still no change. Ithen changed the mass air flow sensor and still the same outcome. The car starts easily like always but has a constant miss in it. At idle, its running about 625 rpm instead of the usual 900 rpm. No power at all. It's like I'm running on 4 cylinders. Could this be as easy as a PCV problem. I've checked for vaccum leaks and found nothing. Would the EGR valve cause a problem like this. Also no check engine light has come on. I'm at my wits end. Please help if you can. Thanks

Would one of them relate to the oxygen sensor?

Perhaps, but the service engine soon light doesn't come on. which makes me think its an ignition module or maybe the coil somehow.

Cam sensor or crank sensor, magnet comes loose, you are in limp home mode.

Me thinks this is a likely cause. Could be a failed coil pack.

Barney is probably right, but I agree w/John that if you have not done the coil pack upgrade you should. Look at your coil for gunk oozing out. If it is, spend 15 minutes and replace it. Parts are readily available at a salvage yard. Too bad you thru $ at all the other parts first.

I did some reading last night before falling asleep....
If the CRANK sensor is bad, the car will NOT run.
If the CAM sensor is bad, the car WILL run but poorly.

Yes, it could be other things. Get a service manual and you too can read at bedtime.
