What is the simplest way to change the front left side marker bulb? Do I have to remove the stuff on the inside of the fender or the mud shields in the wheel well?

It is simple but you must crawl under the car. The front parking/turn/cornering, lights are all housed in the same unit.
That assembly is held in place with 3 or 4 small hex head screws that must be removed from under the car.
It takes some looking but all but one is easily visible. One of the screws, if it was replaced by the last person that did this operation, is hidden from view by the bumper bracket. you can feel the screw and it is fairly easy to remove with an open end wrench but you must do it by feel.

I changed the cornering light bulb on my '89 this weekend. First, I mistakenly removed the side marker light which is in the same housing. I was able to put my arm up from below to remove, and subsequently replace, the side marker bulb. I removed the washer reservoir to give access to the cornering light bulb.
Alan.
Hmm ... never have had to 'disassemble' anything ... simply put the headlights up & (if you've got small hands) change the bulbs ....
~Brenda
