    seat platform lowering

Some time ago it was mentioned that radical sugery had been done to a seat platform so that it could go lower. If anyone has the details, I now have candidate for a grinder but at full down it looks like metal on metal. I would really appreciate the deatails of how to do it.

    Re: seat platform lowering

Padgett, I removed the entire base of my sixteen way seats and replaced it with two metal straps. The straps are made of 1/4" by 1 1/2" steel and they run front to back. I drilled holes for the mounting studs coming out of the floor and than slotted the back holes so that the nuts could be installed on the rear studs and steel straps can be slid under the nuts. This is necessary because I removed the seat slides so the rear nuts are no longer accessible.
I put the seats in place on top of the straps and marked the straps so that I could drill holes in the straps to mount the seats. The setup was than fine tuned to my liking by shimming between the straps and seats with fender washers the seat tilt I desired.
The net is a much lower seat that can't be moved forward, backward, up, down or tilted. The lumber and back recline still work and I have all the original parts undamaged and can return the setup to normal at any time.

Not willing to go that far but willing to drasically limit the up in exchange for more down. Is there a much shorter PS unit that anyone knows of ?

Get a set from the junk yard form a Donor car. there are about 3 million cars that have the same seat adjuster / motor.

1.25 inch lowering is easy with a little fab work.
