Seat belt question

My passenger side seat belt is useless, it won't retract at all. Will a generic GM style seat belt work as a replacement or is this another one-off type part on these cars? This is something I'd rather buy new than used since it's a safety item.

my 89 camaro did that.i started to disasemble it and it retracted.something was binding or hung.

yup, mine too, on a '90! I pulled the belt all the out to clean it, and it wouldn't retract. Within a day or so the seatbelt fairy must have fixed it, because it was retracted and hasn't stuck since. Go figure.
