    Rear Defrost Question

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the rear defrost circuit in the Reatta. I have a '90, and am adding heated mirrors from a Riviera. I was wondering if the defroster just is a relay that provides 12 volts to the rear window and I could hook my heated mirrors in parallel with this circuit, or is the rear defrost more advanced and harder to tap into? Let me know if you know anything about what I am trying to do here, and also let me know if you have any better ideas. Thanks.

    Re: Rear Defrost Question

I just replaced the top on a Mustang convertible and the new one has a defroster element. The guy who replaced the top said that the rear window defroster could be wired into the defroster circuit. Anything is possible.

    Re: Rear Defrost Question

Having read your earlier post, am I correct in saying that you have removed the Reatta's OEM mirrors? I'm assuming the the new mirrors will be mounted on the door. The Reatta did have a heated mirror on the drivers side. What I would do is simply tie into the old wire. I'm guessing you are planning to connect the wiring up anyway, so you still have remote function of the new mirrors. I don't think the right side mirror on the Reatta has the defrost feature. At least that was the case with the 88, 89.
