"operations screen" goes off and on..............

My 'operations screen' goes off and on - more off these days than on.....it is the one with the radio/air control/etc. in the center of the dash. Fortunately - I can still operate the main buttons on the screen even when dark - they all still work but not lighted - screen stays dark most of the time.....any advice other than a new component that costs $500.00????? Thanks....

I recently bought one from a junk yard that came out of a Riviera for $50. If you search this data base under CRT or touchscreen, you will find a few addresses of places that repair the units for under $200. The unit I got from the Riviera is not an exact match, it uses touchscreen buttons instead of real buttons for the screen selection and the trip and diagnostic buttons are reversed. Hope this helps.
