Need advice for Reatta

I may want to re-paint a couple Reattas to factory color (both have original paint). I'm sure the local 'One Day Paint and Body' (no, not gonna take it there) can get the color code. But how would a laymen like myself obtain the color code? Looking for the code for both white and red paint colors. Also, how do I obtain the specs regarding pinstriping (or am I putting too much thought into the process)? Thanks.

In your trunk is the codes. I believe they are on the pressboard that creates the "false" bottom for your trunk.

Re: Need advice for Reatta

Thank you. Once I get the color code, is there a swatch on-line showing the color? For example - is there an 'ingredients chart' (i.e. how much of what color within the color spectrum) goes into the mix? The name of a paint color usually doesn't match what is within the color spectrum.

It will be specific to the paint manufacturer. PPG's formula will not be the same as Dupont's which will not be the same as Sherwin William's. You'll have to take the paint code to a body shop and have them mix the final color based on the data they have for the paint system they use (a paint system is a particular line of paint produced by a manufacturer, like PPG "Global").

Or, any automotive paint supply store should be able to mix the correct color based on the color code if you plan to shoot the car yourself. The paint manufacturers will know what colors to mix to get the correct match for the factory colors based off GM's paint code.

Re: Need advice for Reatta

This was sent to me from our great friend Barney, hope it helps, hope it was ok to repost Barney?

The numbers you need are on the "Service Parts" label.
Look next to the spare tire......... on the right side, you will need to lift the insulation that wraps into the wheel well. The label is stuck on the side of the spare tire well.
I suggest you take a picture of the label and print it in a larger size (makes it easier to read) and put it in the file for the car.... you will then have a reference for later.
This label contains the "DNA" for your car as it was built. I have listed most of the codes at Reatta Data Page

Re: Need advice for Reatta

Just a personal comment. The Reatta used a code 40 white which always seemed soft to me. I prefer the code 50 "Polar" or "Arctic" white which seems a more dramatic colour.

Hinspect is correct on the color code. Took us forever to locate it.

In LA, I would think you have a buffet of good bodymen. Curious, what is a repaint going for out there?

Re: Need advice for Reatta

Thank you all for the helpful info. Didn't realize until after the sale, but via e-Bay I bought Toni's Reatta (90Reatta Cnv. 47,000 miles). Car doesn't arrive here in L.A. until Tuesday/Wednesday. I'm just planning ahead. If this car doesn't require exterior work and I keep the white '90 I have, I'll probably re-paint the white '90 (but it doesn't need it - I'd give the car to a soon-to-be 18 yr old nephew). I know as of four years ago, a 1969 Cadillac Sedan deVille cost $3,400 to re-paint. Not sure what the cost would be for a car needing 1/2 as much paint. But this is SoCal. Home of plastic boobies and Hollywood dreams where everything is inflated. I'll let you know.
