Low Brake Pressure Warning-Actual Low Brake Pressure-Accumulator

I have just been quoted a price of $2,000 for the part needed to restore my brake pressure on an 88 Reatta. Do I have any other options? Where would I look? Has anyone had to replace the accumulator on their Reatta and where did they do that?

I would link you but I'm on my Apache...anyway, at Reatta.net on the left, click Brakes. Near the bottom, go to the tests, and take the tests. Post back with your results (I think I said that right)

Go to www.priorreman.com and look at their rebuilt unit. It is less than $700 then you would have installation.

An accumulator is now up to $190 retail but can be had for about $120 from www.gmpartsdirect.com

Do not pay $2000 to get the brakes fixed.

Barney, thank you for this information. I think I can get the parts installed at a reasonable cost but the parts quotation I thought a bit high and maybe not too accurate either. Doug Veum

Re: Low Brake Pressure Warning-Actual Low Brake Pressure-Accumulator

If there is one mistake that I see with new people who post here it's that they don't say where they are located. Because my travel schedule has me pretty much unable to do work myself, I usually rely on some good local Buick dealers. The best ones read my posts and replys. If you are nearby, let me know. Sounds like you are being quoted way too high. Also, have you done and posted the brake test?

The accumulator is easy to replace. $125 -$175
