I was an owner of a 89 red/tan Reatta a few years back. I updated a listing of all Reattas still in service with my Reatta, now I'm looking to buy another one. I have the VIN but would like to check any history the car may have. How can I get the listing of Reattas still in service?

No complete list exists.

One of our Reatta owners that lives in Florida was able to get a list of Florida registered Reattas from the state (DMV? DOT?) it cost about five cents per listing.

As I recall, he filled out some paperwork with the basic vin info and made a deposit of around $50. He was only seeking 1991 convertibles and he got his list and they refunded the unused amount of his deposit.

So for about $2500 you could get a list of every registered Reatta in the country ?

Not all states will sell the information to individuals. Companies like R.L. Polk buy it for marketing and resell it......... The listing that was purchased from Florida has the owners name, address, etc more info than I thought they would provide.

It turns out there were two Maui Blue coupes made with special order tan interior and one is in Miami......I even sent the owner a registered letter and he would not respond.

Florida is somewhat notorious for every government record being in the public domain (had a few politicians who would not stay bought). Are warnings on every state and local web site but is probably the future. You just need to know where to look.
