    Problem: The driver and passenger side seats will not move (using keypad on door) unless the door is closed. What is causing this?     Sounds like maybe a broken wire that passes from the door to the door jam. It is quite common that one or more or these wires break from frequent door opening.

    I'd say the wires in the area of the door hinges have gone bad from age/use. It has happened before.

    PKMike - I don't know if they both stopped at the same time, I've had the car for just a few months and they were like that when I got it.... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

    EDBSO - When I vacuum out the car, then it's basically a pain in the arse to get in the car, close the door, and move the up/back in order to clean around it. Also, in this car, the seatbelt clasp (sp?) is broken and it needs to be replaced, so once again the seat has to be moved up and back, etc.... just a pain.... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

    My bad. I was a bit slow in replying. Replacing the wiring inside is probably not that bad of a job.

    This should be easy.......both seats do not work unless the door (or doors) are closed.

    Since nothing works, logic says it is either the 12V power to the switch or the ground coming out of the switch. That narrows it down to two wires on each door.

    If it were just one seat function, then it might be a wire between the switch and the seat.

    Without removing the door panel, I suggest you take out the switch and check for 12V and ground coming into the switch. On either door, 12V line is orange/black and ground is black. Check it both open and closed, you might even try moving the between closed and open and see when you loose power.
    This may be as simple as a bad connection at the switch.
