Is the glove box door latch assy, the same as the rear 'seat' storage compartments? ('90 and later)

Yes, the glove box and rear floor cubbie latches are all interchangeable for all years given any difference to interior color changes between 80s and 90s. (Grays are different for sure)
Pass thru latches to the trunk are indeed different from the others and not interchangeable unless modified.
No. I know this from experience. They ARE NOT the same. The glove box will work in the rear cubbies, but the rear cubbies will not work smoothly in the glove box. It will feel like you have a "hump" to get over when you close the glove box door.
Try it out for yourself and you'll see.

Thanks for posting the pic, Ronnie. Every single car I've ever seen has latches like that in the front and back.Originally Posted by Ronnie

You could swap the pronged pieces from one to the other, or take a Dremel tool to a cubbie one to make it closer if it really bothers you when you use it. I have swapped several, and never bothered modifying them.
