EO34 MAF problem
I got this code last weekend. It is missing a little all across the rpm range and intermittent. When I kick it hard it will shift down to a lower gear but doesn't accelerate. When I let off and take the throttle up slowly it will pick up speed. Gas mileage is down a bit. BLM was 136 before the error, now it is around 110-115. I HAVE THE SHOP MANUAL AND WILL DO THEIR TESTS. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? It appears a new MAF is rather expensive. A couple hundred yings and yangs.

Re: EO34 MAF problem
The test in the manual is fairly straight forward.
Going against some of the others opinions on this forum, I pick mine up from the u-pick yards. I have found you don't need to replace the aluminum part. I just unscrew the 3 phillips head screws that hold the plastic sensor down and then disconnect the pigtail. It takes less then 5 minutes and the part is cheaper, because the counter guy only looks at the big items to charge more. The yard I use writes on the roof of the car month/year the car came in and then motor and tranny good or bad. I only take from motor good...
Be sure to look for the 3800 motor with the "C" in the vin code if you go that way...
Once home I spray carb cleaner on the 2 sensor wires, install, and I have never been disappointd.

Re: EO34 MAF problem
Thanks Daves89. I picked up two for $5 and it took care of the problem. One of the strange side effects of the error was that when I let of the accelerator in OD, it would cycle the coasting idle from 2500 down to 900 and then back up again to a higher rpm every two or three seconds.

Re: EO34 MAF problem
You are welcome.
Regarding the RPM cycle is that from the old MAF or now the "new" one you installed?
I have not seen that issue before. But then again I usually don't have my screen on gauges. I just go to the gauge page to check what is going on, I very seldom stay there...

Re: EO34 MAF problem
It was with the old defunct sensor. It no longer does it.
