Difference In CRT

I was cleaning out my Mystic Reatta parts box and discovered a CRT but it has no buttons on it. I think it came out of a Riviera. Will this work the Reatta?

Re: Difference In CRT

The screen came out of an '86 Riviera, the only year for the "buttonless" screen.

I don't know for sure if it'll work properly, but coincidentally we have a new member of this discussion forum (handle: 86 Riv ) who might be in need of a new screen, he posted a couple of days ago.

Re: Difference In CRT

Yep, it will. I rescued one from a junkyard 86 Riviera, and it worked perfectly when plugged into my '89.

Re: Difference In CRT

Since my crt started freezing up - when the air temp is below about 20 - I changed it out today with one from an 86 Riviera. Works perfectly, but the buttons are a little different. The hard keys on the Reatta (climate, summary, radio, gages, options, status) are soft keys on the 86 Riviera. The two on the bottom right are different. Bottom center reads diagnostic instead of options; bottom right reads trip monitor instead of status. The buttons work the same as the ones in the same location on the Reatta crt; the touch screen is an overlay that's independent of the crt. Masking tape and a magic marker? Actually, it's not a problem at all unless you're a purist.
