Dash Mat question (89 Reatta)

I was looking at Dash mats on a web site for a 1989 Reatta. In choosing the mats the user is prompted to check the following options, if they apply: 1) computer vents, and 2) light sensors.
Question: Should I be selecting both options for a 1989?
I'm not a big fan of the really thick dash mats. Does anyone have a manufacturer that still makes really nice ones?

Re: Dash Mat question (89 Reatta)

Along with car covers, I sell dash mats.
The brand I sell is "DashMat" by Alco Mfg.
I recommend ordering the one with the light sensor. Because the dash on the Reatta and Riviera were the same, the Riviera had some additional options, but the Reatta also has a sensor that "suggests headlights"
I also recommend ordering a dark color. Don't worry about the darker color absorbing heat, worry about the light colors causing glare. You will be amazed the amount of glare you presently have and don't realise it... Here in Texas, I put the dash mats on every car I own. It cuts the glare and saves the dash from the intense sun. The Reatta dash seems to be holding up pretty well but as far as I know, new replacements
are not available. So save that dash.
I sell mats for all cars for $35 including shipping. Their web page is www.dashmat.com
If you have questions contact me at Barney@texas.net

I bought a maroon Reatta dash mat from the Buick dealer shortly after I purchased my car new. I had to cut a hole in the mat for the light sensor -- instructions said to use a quarter and a razor knife. I also used the furnished velcro fastners (self-adhesive) because I didn't want the mat to blow out when I had the top down, but in retrospect, it's not necessary to fasten the mat.
It does cut down on glare, and it saves the dash from sun damage. It also looks good! I paid $50 for mine.
