    console lights out

I am having a bit of a problem with my gear shift light going out at times
in the 88 reatta, I pulled the assy out and checked the wiring for opens or loose connections but I'm at a loss. Has anyone else had this problem.
    Thanks

Check the 110 VAC Inverter. It is yellow, has a 110 VAC label, and looks like an ice cube relay. It is located in the console under the gear shift area and converts 12 VDC to 110 VAC to illuminate the gearshift indicator. How do you check this component? It looks like it receives input from the dimmer circuit and sends power out. Do you check it for AC voltage. Where? How much $ is it to replace?

The inverter definitely maybe your problem BUT it also just might be as simple as a dirty slider dimmer switch in the light pod switch.

Some have had success spraying contact cleaner through the front slot. On mine I had to remove and spray from the back where I pried it open.

    Good luck, Robert
