Cassette Deck Repair Manual

After seeing how common the cassette deck problem is, I decided to put together a repair manual. The problem I am referring to is the drive belt needing to be replaced. The most common symptom I've noticed on this bulletin board is the clicking noises and it just doesn't play anymore, which was the same problems I was having. After repairing mine, and noticing other people having the same problem, I decided to do this. I repaired a second deck using a digital camera and a pocket recorder for notes. I am in the process now of typing it all up. I will probably put it in MS Word and a PDF. It will take me a week or two to complete it, and I will make another post when I'm done. Anyone wanting a copy, send your email address and I will start a list. <BR>** Also....I no longer have web space available, so if anyone has a Reatta site that would like to make it available for download, please let me know. <BR>I'm doing this because I am an avid Reatta lover and I can't stand to see any more people spending 60 to 80 bucks to have their tape decks repaired when they can do it themselves for about 4 dollars.

I would be very interested in your manual. My tape deck does not work and I'm sure it's the belt. I am now an Aviation Inspector but, I came up through the electronic (tech/engineer) world and very capable of accomplishing this repair. It's on my "to do" list.<BR>By the way, who makes the unit? Hey everyone! I&#8217;ve got the manual on line at <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/reatta_lover" TARGET=_blank>www.geocities.com/reatta_lover</A> . After receiving so much response from my post, I really wanted to get it out quick. The digital photos I took were extremely large. Working it into printable media is gonna be a little more involved than I originally thought. Because I have so many people waiting on it, I wanted to get it to where you could at least review it. The easiest way for me to do that was to put on web format, using thumbnails for the photos. Now, I understand, that people are probably not going to want to undergo this project in front of their computer, so I will be putting together a downloadable version that can be printed in MS Word. However, I will have to use Photoshop and resize about 35 photographs. I&#8217;m going out of town for a couple of days, and as soon as I get back I will get started on that. And, I could really use some feedback from the web site while I put this thing together. Also, I have a very detailed schematic of the deck, which I will be adding to both the site and the download version. Much thanks to Padgett for providing that!! I would like a copy. My radio won't play unless the cassett is in Fast Forward. Also the cassette doesn't play at all.
