Howdy. Today the brakes of my dad's '90 started to act weird. I first fired it up and drove it out and found the yellow anti lock light to be on (and stayed on). I tried a panic stop in the driveway (not that fast on cement) and found that the brakes weren't very effective and pedal was hard. I tried it a couple more times and it kind of fixed itself. It stops fine (close to normal if not normal) but the pump keeps running. If stepping on the pedal normally, it stops fine but the anti lock light still comes on. If stepped on hard, the red brake light will come on. Both go out when let off. I took the tests...
test 1: 1
test 2: 1
test 3: 2, 3
test 4: 3.25 (almost at the same time that the yellow light goes out)
test 5: 1
test 6: two millimeters (not much at all)
test 7: sunk a lot, came up slightly, made the thump sound.
According to documentation at Reatta.net, it has a bad accumulator. I haven't bought anything yet but the Buck dealer quoted me $186 and special ordered. Is it indeed the accumulator?
(note: I'm more into deeper technical Reatta stuff than my dad. He's the master plumber. I'm thinking of the accumulator as a well pressure tank. If it goes bad, then the well pump has to run a lot more because the tank can't keep up pressure. The well pump will run whenever a faucet is turned on (brake pedal depressed). This make any sense?)
