Anyone had this? Brake fluid reservoir leaks on hill.

Parked on a hill (20 degrees) and brake fluid leaked out from the rear of the cap. Caught it after car had been parked for 2 days. Brake fluid is now low. I verified that it leaked out of the cap. My thoughts are that the cap gasket is simply old but it appears ok (don't they all). Can I use a standard cap available? There do not appear to be any electical connections to the cap so should a Buick dealer or someone else have them? I'm currently away from home and going to make a 900 mile trip back on Sunday. Darn fluid soaked the outside of the hose under the reservoir so I'm hoping the fluid didn't destroy the hose since it's supposed to hold brake fluid anyway. I'll replace it when I get home unless it's a critical thing right now.
Okay, you bought it, now love it.

Just to be sure, did you properly check/fill/dump the fluid level? (the 25 pumps of the brake with the car off, then checking it procedure).

I BELIEVE YOU CAN USE A REPLACEMENT CAP FOUND IN ANY AUTO PARTS STORE FOR GM CARS IN THAT YEAR ,I THINK THERE IS ALSO A REPLACEMENT GASKET AS WELL, IN AUTOZONES OR ADVANCE AUTO , NAPA ECT.....

    Your resevoir was probably overfilled.
With the system depressurized, the fluid should be to the level shown on the side.

If you fill the resevoir to that level with the car running, the accumulator will be charged with fluid. The accumulator holds different amounts of fluid depending on it's state of Nitrogen charge. As the car sits, unused, the accumulator leaks fluid back to the resevoir and it will overflow.

    Thanks for the info

Indeed, the reservoir was likely overfilled as I ran through the pump sequence of the acumulator and then checked the fluid level than made sure level was correct. No more leaking.

    Wheeeeeew!

I went and got a new cap and gasket just in case. Since it's the original cap, can't hurt

Again, thanks for the help. Nice to know when you are away from home.
