Alternator

I replaced my alternator on my 89 with an alternator from an 88. I was told that the rectifier was bad on my alternator. Is this an easy fix? Can you buy the part?

Re: Alternator

You should be able to buy a rebuild kit for almost any alternator. No prior experience with this particular one, but previous experience with both Delco and Motorcraft alternators are relatively simple to repair. Some do require soldering, but what I see in the manual appears to be all screw in stuff. You could likely just buy the rectifier and replace it, but many full kits come with new bearings as well, and will require more work to change them, but it is a good idea.
